Because of the dominance of certain seaports in specific sectors, cascading impacts on critical infrastructure depend on which seaports are disrupted. As a consequence, there is an increased dependency on electronic communication and processes with little human interaction. The flip side of these operational benefits is that ICT systems can be extremely vulnerable to cyber attack. The attacks are everchanging and dynamic of nature. Mitigation of attacks are discussed with examples. Best practices can greatly reduce these vulnerabilties.
