Estimation of Antenna Gain using Radar Equation for 1 to 11 GHz FMCW UWB Radar Based Lie Detector



Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology is a radio technology used at a very low energy level for short-range, high bandwidth communications using a large portion of the radio spectrum. As the contact based method like the popular polygraph based lie detection suffers from the problem of counter measures, the idea of using a radar for detection of liars becomes promising as it could be a remote, non-contact and noninvasive method. This paper presents the estimation of the required (i) antenna gain, (ii) signal processing gain and (iii) signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of a typical high resolution ultra-wideband radar with frequencies ranging over 1-11 GHz. The results can be useful in the practical development of the radar.
