Design Aspects of Wireless Telecom Network from the Perspective of Economic Growth



Business firms undertake economic activities with motivational objective of profit maximization and revenue growth. In addition, the firms also make approaches to assess production processes in their effort to explore efficient ways of production. We consider economic growth analysis of the production process of the firms as an approach for exploring efficient technique of production. The production function which describes mechanism of economic growth shows the relationship between the input and output resources of the firm. The wireless telecom network of BSNL is considered in this paper as a model network for analyzing the characteristics of the economic growth namely – growth caused by increase in input volume and growth caused by increase in productivity. In Manipur, most of the telecom service providers face challenges of poor network reliability because of scarcity of grid energy supply at their base stations.  However, simulation study on network traffic reveals that even at the expense of high input costs on diesel fuel, there is scope for network reliability and revenue growth. This revenue growth is indeed caused by increase in input volume. This paper examines the behavior of wireless telecom network and its production function to explore ways for further economic growth in the context of increase in productivity.  We consider various network design aspects of the wireless telecom network and develop models for the network to facilitate experiments for further economic growth on the concept of improved productivity.  We find that with minor changes in the process of production there is scope for additional revenue growth in the local business environment of the telecom industry.
