UPFC PLACEMENT INFLUENCE ON THE TRANSMISSION LINE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ELECTRICITY SYSTEM SULSELBAR BECOMES SULSELBARTENG

Abstract


The operation PLTU Jeneponto 2x125 MW, PLTU Barru 2x50 MW  and transmission lines that connect the middle lane  GI Sidrap - GI Maros - GI Sungguminasa, is the right solution to overcome weaknesses Sulselbar system that is the bottle neck. Connectedness PLTA Poso 2, 3x65MW into the electric power system south of west Sulawesi (Sulselbar) through the GI Palopo, then the SulselBar system is in a state surplus power and develop into a  SulselBarTeng system (south western and central Sulawesi). This situation makes the PLN as a manufacturer of electric energy, optimizing the operation of the plant in the system, where the generator with fuel mostly deactivated and plants with low operating costs is maximazed

Optimization of plant operation policy, will certainly affect the distribution of power in a particular plant with a fairly long distance channels, so the loss of power loss and voltage drop on a particular bus can not be avoided. This researh is analyzes the performance of the SulselBarTeng interconection system by placing unified power flow controller (UPFC) in one of the transmission line, where analysis method  by simulation using NEPLAN software. Simulation results are obtained without UPFC showed  reactive power losses are very large, the voltage drop occurs on the bus latuppa (28) 275 kV. The simulation results by placing UPFC between bus of Sidrap (13) and bus of Maros (26) shows that the performance of the system increases, decreases the power losses, the voltage on the bus latuppa (28) increases and increased plant capacity
