INFLUENCE VALIDATION OF DEMOGRAPHY- MOTIVATION ON BUSINESS GAME-PAY OFF: AN EMPIRICAL INVESTIGATION FROM NIGERIA

Abstract


This study intends to validate the influence of demography-motivation on business game-pay off. Thus, the study investigates the influence of demographic variables on employee participation, job satisfaction and job performance, and equally the influence of employee motivation on the success or desired pay-off of business firms in business games in Nigeria. Survey research design was adopted to achieve these objectives. The study selected 50 companies totaling the universe of 2881, from which the sample size of 351 was determined using Taro Yamane method. In data collection, this study used multi-stage sampling techniques to select its required sample for the universe. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, regression (SPSS version 17.0) and Likert statistical analysis. The findings indicate that apart from employee participation, demographic factors play influencing roles on employee job satisfaction and job performance; and that employee motivation has significant influence on the success or desired pay-off of business firms in business games in Nigeria. The study concludes that change in demographic factors of employees has negative or positive influence on their job satisfaction and performance; and that organizations’ accomplishment of desired pay-off can be influenced significantly by employee motivation. The study therefore recommends that managers of various organizations should constantly review the demographic factors of their employees, and that they should strive to identify what turns their employees on, and adequately adopt effective motivation plan or approach in business game.
