The paper tries to trace the meaning and evolution of Inflation Indexed Bonds (IIBs). IIBs provide an opportunity for investors to invest in debt instruments and hedge against inflation. Asset management companies (AMCs) and insurance entities are awaiting fresh issuances of IIBs by the Reserve bank of India as of December 2014.
