IMPACT OF ECONOMIC INDICATORS ON THE MARKET PRICE BEHAVIOUR OF SELECT SCRIPS IN INDIA

Abstract


This paper attempts to explore the causal relationship among Market Prices of the select scrips and select Macro Economic variables, of India, including Sensitive Index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (Sensex). For this, the study uses Stepwise Regression model. The economic variables that are considered include Gross Domestic Product, Industrial Production, Wholesale Price Index, Foreign Exchange Rate, Gold Rate, and Crude Oil Rate. The examination period considered is 8 years from the year 2005 - 2012 which is considered as highly robust period in the Indian stock market.
