Abstract

The present study was planned to compare adolescents and early adult females on anorexia nervosa and mental health. Total sample consisted of 160 subjects equally divided into two groups (adolescent and early adult females) and two levels of socio economic status (High and Low). All the subjects were administered Anorexia Test developed by Aditi Banerjee (2004) and Cornell Medical Index developed by N.N. Wig, Dwarka Prasad and S.K. Verma (1973). Subjects were further classified on the basis of level of socio-economic status. Findings revealed that both the groups differ significantly from each other on both the variables of the study. Level of socio-economic status was also found to be affecting the tendency of anorexia nervosa among adolescent and adult females. Adolescents were found to have more physical distress and emotional distress as compared to early adult females.
