Abstract


The information technology industry is today’s fastest growing industry in the world. The IT industry is going through a lot of technological changes and increased competition at a very fast pace. Everyday some new technology is developed and the industry needs more people to work upon it efficiently. Hence there is a need of employee training and development. In the field of human resource management, training and development is the field concerned with organizational activity aimed at bettering the performance of individuals and groups in organizational settings. The purpose of this research has been to investigate that how companies are using training as a means of career development of their employees and to study the various concepts related to training and development as well as career planning and development. The theoretical portion of this report has been studied with an aim to gain knowledge about the various concepts related to training & development and career planning & development. Not much literature can be found to study this relation but a very few are close to the concept that trainings were made a part of career development of the employees. The primary research was conducted to examine that how valid is the literature in the present time. The research was conducted through interviews and questionnaires which were targeted towards the employees working in various IT companies. The data analysis of the research result showed that companies are now focusing on the trainings of the employees which are aimed towards their career growth.
